Namibia's Dillish Pearl Mathews Wins 2013 Big Brother Africa (The Chase) U.S.$300,000 Prize

  Dillish Pearl Mathews

Namibia's Dillish Pearl Mathews has won the Big Brother Africa (BBA) reality TV show and will smile home with the $300,000 prize money.

In a finale of many shocks and twists, the undergraduate from Windhoek beat five other housemates who made the grand finale of the show.

Dillish Mathews, who finished in second place in a Miss Universities pageant held in Benin, Nigeria, was saved five times from possible eviction by Africa. She never won a Head of House (HoH) task nor any 'Power of No' over the 13-week period of the show. Five countries: Angola, Kenya, Namibia, Tanzania and Uganda voted to ensure Dillish's triumph.

Nigeria's Melvin Oduah, the man touted by many to win, in a shocking twist, finished a distant third runner-up spot. He could only secure Nigeria and the Rest of Africa's country votes. Beverly Ada Osu, the other Nigerian in the finale, got the Ethiopian's vote to finish just behind Melvin in 5th place.

Many Nigerians had expected Melvin to go all the way after finishing in second place in both the 'Mr Nigeria' and 'Gulder Ultimate Search' competitions in his home country. In finishing 4th, the second-place syndrome tag is something he has to still live with.

Ghanaian tailor, Elikem Kumordzi, finished as the 2nd runner-up with votes from Sierra Leone, Zimbabwe and home country Ghana. He also won the Most Romantic Gesture prize that comes with $10,000 cash to splash over the course of an all-expense paid trip.

In winning Big Brother Africa, The Chase, Dillish becomes the third female winner after the triumphs of Zambia's Cherise Makubale in the first season and Nigeria's Karen Igho in the sixth.

Zambia's rap diva Clementina Mulenga finished closely in second place behind Dillish with votes from Botswana, Malawi, South Africa and Zambia.

The grand finale of shocks ensured that the three West African representatives who made the top 5 finished in positions way below expectations.

This may not be unconnected with a fight back from Southern and East African countries who felt the West Africans were bragging too much about their winning prowess on Africa's biggest reality TV show.

Dillish had promised to buy a house so she can live together with her siblings like real family if she won the $300,000 prize money.

................................................................

East Africa went all out to vote for her. Out of 15 country votes  Dillish got 5, Cleo 4, Elikem 3, Melvin  2 and Beverly = 1.

Below is how countries voted.

Angola: Dillish

The Chase: Bimp and Angelo evicted from BBA

  Bimp

                                                                                       Angelo.
...............................................................................................................................................................

Ethiopia's Bimp and South Africa's Angelo have become the 21st and 22nd housemates to be evicted from Big Brother Africa (The Chase) reality show.

After what has been a confusing night that saw all three of the eviction nominees - Angelo, Bimp and Dillish - being called into the Rendezvous Room, Live Show presenter IK revealed to the housemates and to Africa that Bimp's Chase has come to an end.

As soon as Bimp sat down, IK wasted no time in probing the Ethiopian about his beef with Elikem.

The ousted housemate shared that he does not see eye to eye with the Ghanaian because Elikem has grown increasingly cocky in the House. "He has changed," Bimp insisted.

As for his dislike for Elikem's girl Pokello; Bimp said that he feels that "the feeling is mutual".

The hunky Ethiopian who has brandished himself as the gentleman of the house, has put up a good fight, having managed to make it into the top seven.

In the past, he proved himself to be somewhat of a silent assassin as the quiet guy was saved time and again by Africa, every time that he was put up for possible eviction.

But on Sunday night, lady luck was just not on his side as his Big Brother journey has come to a screeching halt at a point when he was so close to the finale.

After making it to the top seven in game, South Africa's Angelo became the 22nd housemate to be evicted from The Chase.

Just like a tornado sweeping everything that is in its sight, the curse of the couples has swept through the Big Brother House and Sunday night, it reared its ugly head once again. The final couple in the House Bengelo has been torn apart, at least for the time being.

Angelo did not even get a chance to say goodbye to his lady love because the eviction nominees were called into the Rendezvous Room.

As soon as IK announced him as the second evicted housemate of the night, Angelo walked out the Rendezvous Room and head to the Live Show stage for a heart to heart chat with the presenter.

"I think if Bimp did not have a girlfriend, he and Beverly would have had something," Angelo confessed on stage.

Bimp, who was also ousted tonight, was sitting next to Angelo at the time and he defended his relationship with Beverly saying that he has never seen her as "nothing more than a sister".

Over the past 84 days Angelo has proven himself to be one of the biggest entertainers of the House.

The South African dancer always loved to show off his robotic moves for Africa and his fellow Housemates and he was one of the housemate that were always up for a good time.

His passionate relationship with Beverly has been one of the most polarising unions in The Chase.

Their union has had its fair share of ups and downs but throughout it all it has always been evident that the duo genuinely care for each other.

The Top 5

Africa stand up and salute your Top 5. After 25 bade the Show goodbye, Beverly, Cleo, Dillish, Elikem and Melvin are the final 5 and it has been quite a journey for them.

We look at a few facts about their long journey in The Chase:

Beverly:

Originally a Ruby, Beverly is probably the luckiest of the pack having gone through the entire Season without facing the dreaded Eviction dagger. It's safe to say that the Nigerian lass literally walked her way to the Finale.

On love, she had a bad experience very early in the game when Uganda's LK4 tried two-timing her with South Africa's Koketso. Seeing the Ugandan choose Koketso over her must have been a huge blow but she soldiered on, thanks to being Swapped to the Diamond House.

No one wanted to believe that Betty's Bolt had his eyes fixed on Beverly but that was her story and she stuck to it. It was only after Bolt moved to the Ruby House that he started confessing to a few transgressions. Beverly won HoH twice during the Season.

Cleo:

Hakeem's sweetheart or Mrs Mandaza as she became fondly known on the Big Brother Africa Twitter streets, Cleo surprised many when she pulled herself together and continued with The Chase even after her beau was booted out.

Having survived four Evictions, the Zambian emcee has proved to be quite a strong contender in the game. Though this original Ruby couldn't quite crack winning Head of House, she really pulled her weight and was always so close.

Dillish:

The last confirmed Finalist, Diamond Dillish must still be pinching herself after surviving the last Eviction that saw South Africa's Angelo and Ethiopian Bimp bite the dust.

The princess, as Pebbles calls her, is another one that became a regular under the guillotine but Africa would not hear any of it and she was Saved on all occasions.

Though she managed to go through the entire Season without falling for any of the guys, Dillish occasionally spoke about yearning for some good loving. Sadly, the Namibian princess failed dismally to make Head of House.

Elikem:

'That n**ga Elikem', as his beau the gorgeous Pokello refers to him, became the first confirmed Finalist of The Chase. The Ghanaian Chasemate fought quite a few battles to make it to the finish line in one piece.

Having been the target of serious frenemy squabbles, it took Elikem a while to wake up and smell the coffee. The Taylor was quite popular with the ladies before settling with Zimbabwe's Pokello and the ladies had to take a chill pill.

A man of firsts, Elikem is also the only Chasemate to have had the nerve to Nominate his love-interest when he put up Pokello. He is also the first Ghanaian to make it to the Finale. This original Diamond became Head of House three times and survived five Evictions; twice by Africa and three times by the respective HoH.

Melvin:

The only Chasemate to have tested fate and put his own head on the chopping block during his tenure as Head of House, a move that will go down as one of the boldest of the Season.

Perhaps that's the reason why his fellow Housemates could not Nominate him ever again, they were still picking up their jaws from the floor. The Nigerian hottie almost wears a permanent smile and never bothers anyone.

That's why it was quite a spectacle when Dillish rubbed him the wrong way this week, making him very angry. Though he only faced Eviction once, by his own doing anyway, Melvin won Head of House three times during his days as a Diamond. This actually made it hard to recall that Melvin is actually an original Ruby.

Though everyone is now a Ruby, fact remains that we have three original Rubies and two original Diamonds in the Top 5. Ghana, Namibia, Nigeria and Zambia are represented in the Finale.

Oneal evicted from BBA 2013, "the Chase"

This week, only one housemate left the chase and he was none other than Botswana’s O’Neal who left his Tanzanian heartthrob, Feza behind. He got evicted from the Big Brother Africa: The Chase house on Sunday night which marked the end of the road for Botswana as both her contestants, O’Neal and Motamma have been evicted from the game.

With only eight housemates left, only Nigeria still has their team intact while Ethiopia, Namibia, Zambia, Tanzania and South Africa still have one Chasemate in the running for the much coveted US$300 000.

Feza Kessy evicted from BBA 2013, the Chase

Tanzanian Housemate Feza has become the 20th Housemate to be booted out of The Chase.

As soon as Live Show Presenter IK made the announcment, she hugged her fellow Chasemates. She walked out of the House as they cheered her on. When she stepped on stage, IK jumped into the big question, “Do you love Oneal?” She answered: “Yes I do,” without hesitation. She also shared that there is still an element of distrust between them. IK also asked her about Oneal’s initial attraction to Cleo. “I will let that slide because I wasn’t there,” she replied.

Over the past eleven weeks she has established herself as one of the most polarising Housemates in the Big Brother House. You either love her or you hate her; there is no in between when it comes to Feza. But today her journey in The Chase has come to an abrupt end.

As she exits the House, Feza takes along with her all of Tanzania’s hopes and dreams. Her fellow country-mate Nando made a sudden exit from The Chase when he gotDisqualified for violating the Big Brother Africa rules two weeks ago.

The Tanzanian’s departure follows hot on the heels of her man Oneal’s parting from The Chase. Before he was booted out last week; Oneza was the most talked about couple in Big Brother The Chase and Feza’s Eviction today, begs the question: “Is Africa against couples in The Chase?” In the past we have speculated about ’The Curse of The Couples’ and this curse looks to be real, now so more than ever.

Tanzania’s Contestant, Nando Has Been Expelled from “Big Brother Africa – The Chase”

Nando Big Brother Africa The chase - July 2013 - BellaNaija (2)

Tanzania’s Nando has been disqualified from the Big Brother House.

After tonight’s Evictions that saw Annabel and Sulu being given the boot, Big Brother then gathered all of the Housemates in the living room.

Today Big Brother reproached Nando for the fight that he had with Elikem on Friday. The heated face-off with Elikem saw the two fellas exchanging fiery words between them. Nando is the one that instigated the fight. Instigation and provocation is a violation of the Big Brother rules.

For this fight Nando received his second Strike and Elikem was has served with his first Strike. Afterwards the Tanzanian was called into the Diary Room. He was given his third Strike for making threats against Elikem’s life, saying: “I feel like stabbing him. A nigga like that deserves to die”.

And he was also caught sleeping with scissors under his bed and this is not the first time that he has been caught with a weapon in the House. The troubled young fellow has had a dramatic nine weeks in The Chase. Last month he was served with a a Strike and a stern warning from Big Brother after he was found carrying a knife to the Channel O Party. The possession of weapons or intention to be violent in the House another violation of the Big Brother rules.

After the Diary session Nando was told to immediately exit the House. Big Brother then gave a warning to the Housemates to conduct themselves as adults.
